The iconic Porsche 911R
The 911R was the brain child of the legendary Ferdinand Piëch, his aim in 1967 was to build the lightest, fastest production-based road car in Porsche history. To achieve this every major body panel was re-manufactured in composite. All superfluous items were removed, custom 7-inch rear wheels were produced to provide extra traction and the flat six from the race winning 906 was installed. The result was one of the lightest 911’s to date at just 800kg. When combined with the 220-horsepower engine, it proved a winning combination, breaking numerous world records at Monza in October 1967.
The 911R was the forerunner for all subsequent race spec 911’s and is considered the purest 911 of all, with only 20 original cars produced, it’s also extremely rare.

At the outset of the project our goal was to celebrate this iconic car and its place in automotive history for the 50th anniversary of the Monza world records.
Our involvement with the 911R has been extensive. We were commissioned to produce numerous components and panels for the restoration of original cars, which lead to thousands of hours of research and access to original components, providing details otherwise unattainable.
This was considered a no limit build and is a representation of our unrivalled in-house capabilities, from reverse engineering and manufacturing through to fabrication, paint and assembly.
The result is a homage with a wealth of details making it almost indistinguishable from the original.
The build has been well documented, with front covers and articles in both Panorama
and GT Porsche.
