This superb AC Cobra was a recent visitor to the EB Motorsport workshops for some mechanical attention. The contact came from our local motorsport parts supplier who had a customer with clutch issues on an historic car. Could we help? Of course, we were willing to do what we could.
No need to ring the bell when you drive a proper AC Cobra, as the soundtrack from that big-block V8 through flowing headers into the collector and out through huge lake pipes down the sills could set off car alarms from space. The noise of its arrival brought everyone out of our offices for a look.
The problem was the clutch system, which had become contaminated with swarf and debris from a disintegrating master cylinder. After some work creating new fittings on our 3-axis CNC and a little spin for some parts on one of our lathes, we replaced the worn out Atco cylinders with brand new Tilton parts. The owner was delighted with the job and gave an extra-long press on the loud pedal for luck as he left with a smile on his face!
