EB Motorsport enjoyed a good first day at Dijon in France ahead of our debut race in Peter Auto’s Classic Endurance Racing series, when our newly-rebuilt 1974 911 RSR set the fastest Porsche time in free practice.
The 3.8 kilometre circuit was dry at 13:25 local time, when the CER competitors at the Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or rolled out for first practice. Forty-five minutes later, a brace of Chevrons topped the timesheets, followed by a Ferrari 512 and the epic Lola T70s. Fast as a 911 RSR is, it cannot live with the pace of the historic prototypes, but the inter-Porsche battle is always a good one. Delighted with their moment in the sun, Mark and James are under no illusions about the quality of the competition.
“It’s been a few years since James and I last raced at Dijon and we have missed this wonderful circuit,” said Mark. “Pretty sure some of the guys were just getting into the swing of things and are keeping their powder dry for qualifying, so we’ll see how the rest of the weekend unfolds. Whatever happens tomorrow, we are happy to be here, making our CER debut and racing in the second round of the 2.0L Cup.”
